Every year, Elektroprisen is awarded by the Elektrofonden (The Danish Society of Engineers, IDA) for a promising effort in the field of electrical engineering, and our own Abdallah Al-Mass has received this year’s Elektropris for his impressive engineering work with the development of highly specified Sil- and ATEX certified gas detectors, including the GP-NOVA gas detector, which is certified according to the highest international standards and can measure emissions of everything from hydrogen sulphide, methane, ammonia, freon and petrol to carbon monoxide.
Abdallah Al-Mass is a trained auto mechanic but chose to take the entrance course at DTU so that he could study further to become an engineer. He graduated as a civil engineer in 2016 and a year later he was hired by Geopal. Abdallah has been the primus motor in developing a modular SIL 2 and ATEX / IECEx-certified gas detector, and was the center of a broad collaboration, among others between national and international development houses, certification bodies, and subcontractors. Last year, GP-NOVA was launched, and Abdallah was responsible for product transfer to production, training, and reponsible for the production process during the first batch.
Geopal GP-NOVA Stand-Alone Gas Detector
A gas detector designed to ensure safety, reliability and accuracy, while providing simple maintenance and service. GP-NOVA comes with several different sensor technologies, which make it possible to detect many different gases, and the gas detector is monitored and calibrated easily via the Geopal app (App Store and Google Play) with Bluetooth technology. GP-NOVA is designed for SIL2 according to IEC 61508 and performance according to EN 60079-29-1, and thus the gas detector also has great potential in the upcoming Power-to-X projects.
At Geopal, we have witnessed Abdallah’s impressive efforts, perseverance and professionalism, and Elektroprisen 2022 has undoubtedly been awarded to the right person.
