GP-NOVA is the star of the day

Our production team has collected, tested and calibrated these 10 GP-NOVAs for our customer, a Danish fuel cell manufacturer.

These fuel cells run primarily on methanol, also known as wood spirit.

What is methanol?

Methanol is one of the most promising biofuels and is an important product in the Power-to-X process. The process involves converting wind or solar energy into hydrogen, and then adding carbon dioxide to obtain methanol, which is used as a CO2-neutral liquid fuel. Thus, it can be used as a green alternative to, among other things, petrol and diesel, which are harmful to the environment.

Why gas detection?

Although methanol is better for the environment, it is also a very toxic substance and also flammable! Methanol has an ignition limit from 6 to 36 v / v%, so it does not take much before it ignites! It is therefore important to install gas detection in areas where there are risks of emissions of this toxic and flammable gas.

We are pleased that this manufacturer has chosen Geopal to create a safe and secure workplace for all employees, and GP-NOVA, which is certified according to the highest international standards and which can detect many different gases with the different sensor technologies, is a perfect choice when one wants to detect for methanol.
