“I had to respond to a tank at Aarhus Harbor, where I received an alarm on my G7c for high CO levels. Shortly after, my colleague called to check if I was okay, as he could see on his phone and computer that the CO levels around me were above the threshold. At the same time I received a personal alarm, my colleague got an SMS and an alert on his open computer indicating that I was in Aarhus at these GPS coordinates, and that there was a CO level of xx ppm. It’s fantastic and makes you feel safe, even when working alone.”

Per Pedersen: “We work with Europe’s best producers of cooling systems, but the gas detectors that come with the systems are often poor quality. They are continuously replaced with Geopal gas detectors because they simply work, and the prices are reasonable.”

Henrik Storm: “There are rarely issues with Danish-produced systems, but we often experience that even the most competent suppliers in Italy and Germany equip their cooling systems with detectors that fail quickly. We’ve encountered detectors that failed after just a few weeks, which is unacceptable for us and our customers in environments that require constant monitoring of toxic and flammable gases like ammonia, HFO R1234ze, propane, and CO2. That’s why we switch to Geopal whenever another detector fails. Besides the quality of the detectors, Geopal’s service department is also a plus. They always find a solution and proactively call when it’s time for service. I appreciate their proactive approach because it means Per and I don’t have to keep track of it ourselves – we already have plenty to do.”

Teaching Facilities

  • DTU

“After a period with other suppliers, we contacted Geopal around 2010 and equipped some of our rigs at Risø with their gas sensors. It worked so well that in 2012 we installed their room monitoring in two new buildings, and the results were just as convincing.

Since then, we have been using gas detection equipment from Geopal because their equipment simply works – it’s straightforward, logical, user-friendly, and reliable. So the choice was not difficult when we had to select a supplier for the AGA system for DTU B310. In this building alone, over 160 Geopal gas detectors are installed, and we expect to continue having very low service costs and a service organization that works really efficiently.

We have a very critical mixture of flammable and toxic gases in the pipes running through the building to our laboratories – H2, CH4, O2, CO2, CO, NO, NH3, and many special gases, and for the sake of both people and research processes, it is extremely important that the failure rate is as low as the safety level is high. If the detection system fails, experiments are shut down, causing researchers and students to lose time and data. Their samples might be damaged, forcing them to start over, which costs oceans of time and money.
Therefore, our detection system MUST simply work, and with my previous experiences, I am confident that we now have a reliable and dependable system that we can fully trust.”

Tunnels

Tunnel
  • Nordhavn Tunnel

When driving through the Nordhavn Tunnel, your safety is secured by Geopal gas detectors. In the event of an accident where a vehicle leaks gasoline or another substance, the spillage is collected in sumps. From there, the air and vapors are continuously extracted for hydrocarbon monitoring. The extracted air passes through Geopal detectors, which will trigger an alarm if the hydrocarbon levels become too high.

  • DFDS Transport/DSV

Geopal has installed AGA systems in several charging areas at DFDS Transport/DSV. The system monitors the development of hydrogen in the areas, and if the hydrogen content in the air reaches 5% LEL, the system automatically activates ventilation. At 25% LEL, the power supply is immediately cut off, stopping the battery charging process. This installation has allowed DFDS to reduce ventilation, resulting in savings of at least 50,000 kWh per year. Additionally, they save energy by reusing excess heat from the charging areas instead of venting it outside.
