Recently, our dedicated service technician, Leif, embarked on the annual maintenance visit to a hospital equipped with essential cooling compressors.

These compressors play a vital role in maintaining optimal cooling conditions throughout the facility. During Leif’s visit, meticulous attention was given to ensure seamless operation of all systems, including gas alarms and detectors designed to detect refrigerant gases like R1234ze.

At this hospital, detectors are strategically placed at floor level due to the characteristic heaviness of these gases, which tend to settle near ground level. Understanding the distinct properties of different gases is pivotal in their effective detection and placement. For instance, ammonia (NH3), being a lighter gas, necessitates detectors to be positioned higher up, often near the ceiling or directly above each NH3 compressor.
